Swatches

Sometime I prefer to keep my nails simple and wear just a single nail polish color, or maybe just two, so I tought I will show you today some swatches I made last year.

JADE - Delirio Rosa
JADE - Irresistivel
JADE - Magia
JADE - Psicodelica
I recived these beauties from my dear friend Adriana, who has an Instagram account here. Just check her nails because she is amazing!

JADE is a Brazilian brand with an amazing formula, thin and easy to apply. All of these holo polishes are not fully opaque in one coat, but in two or three gives a perfect coverage. The brush is small round and very easy to use!
GOLDEN ROSE - Jolly Jewels 122
This is Golden Rose #122 from the Jolly Jewels collection. It’s quite a unique polish as it combines big hex silver glitters to a golden shimmer. After aplication my first reaction was 'this is the Mother of all glitter polishes', it has an amzing shine! It is a quitze sheer polish so it must be applied at least in two coats!

Catrice Crocodile Cracker
I know that crackle polishes are not IN these days, but when I bought the Catrice Crocodile Cracker, I thought it will work as promised with a crocodile skin effect, well you see the results above, it is an usual crackle polish, nothing special, but I like it how it looks!

P2 Lovesome, Sand style
I am a big fan of textured polishes and this was the first one that I tried, I won it form the beautiful Diana, By Dee Make-up, thank you again for this amazing polish! Lovesome, is a bright pink with gold and magenta glitter particles polish. The formula is fantastic and very easy to work with and it dries matte textured with sparkles.

MOYRA No. 99
MOYRA no. 99 is a very sheer and light colored polish, to achieve the coverage seen above it had to be applied in four coats. This polish gives the impression that it is a holographic one but it isn’t.

I am curious which one is your favorite and if you tried any of these polishes?

Carnaval

Last week Friday I went to a carnaval party together with my friends to celebrate the end of winter time. I had to choose an outfit and for me it was very easy because I love the 1920's style. I didn't manage to dress exactly the same way as the ladies did in that period but I tried to do my best.

In the early 1920's experienced dramatic changes in fashion, the dresses were lighter and brighter and shorter than ever before. Hats, shoes, stockings, handbags, dresses and jewelry all came together in perfect harmony to create a unique and elegant style.

Women cut their hair short, bob style to fit under the popular hats. One of the first women to wear trousers, cut her hair and reject the corset was Coco Chanel. Probably the most influential woman in fashion of the 20th century, Coco Chanel did much to further the emancipation and freedom of women's fashion.

My manicure is inspired by my dress. I used a Romanian polish brand, Farmec (nr.4) which is a glossy nude shade and I finished it with a matte top coat by Rimmel. To match my dress I added the shiny black lines on the side of the nails to imitate the black leather effect.

Here is the dress and the little devil is one of my best friends!

In artificial light.
To make the design more classy and elegant I added a few black matte squared rhinestones. I liked the results I obtained and I have to tell you that the base polish it is really ultra resistant like the bottle sais, I am wearing this manicure from last Thursday and it looks perfect like the first day!

Do you celebrate carneval? If yes, what did you wear at the party?

Front Cover nail art kit

I received as a Christmas gift a nail art kit form the UK brand FRONT COVER. I didn't know anything about this product so I had to get some information’s from their site:

"Frontcover takes the latest catwalk trends and turns them into ready to wear make-up kits.

High quality, high performance formulations are fundamental to the brand and all Frontcover products are highly pigmented and long lasting and each one is road tested against the best in class before launch.

Mirroring the fashion market there are two Frontcover collections a year, Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, both limited editions so there is always something new and exciting in the range and the wide range of shades and textures they feature are designed to let women experiment."

I will show you today the kit from the
Autumn/Winnter Nail Art collection 2013.

The kit content:

  • 3 Nail Polishes
  • 1 Gloss Top Coat
  • Pot of Mixed Nail Jewels
  • Pot of Silver Holographic Glitter
  • Pot of Small Round Crystals
  • 2 Sets of Nail Stickers
  • Nail Art Brush
  • Nail Art Glue
  • Nail File
  • Dotting Sticks

Inside de box it is a small book with step by step instructions to achieve a classy nail art style, so it is perfect for those who are just starting out with nail art !

The formula and the colors of the polishes are great, and it dries very fast. The first I applied on my nails it was Red Shoes which is a bright red polish with subtle golden shimmer. It was easy to apply, and needed two coats because it is quite sheer. The golden shimmer is what makes that polish special.

Next, I applied the vamp Ruby Resin and than the nude Glossy Shell, both polishes are very opaque and therefore it is perfect for nail art too but they are super glossy and wearable on their own. They last a good amount of time on the nails!

On my pinky finger I added a little bit of silver holo glitter and on my index finger I glued small crystals and mixed nail jewels. The looks you can create with these three nail accessories are pretty varied. I finished it with Glossy Top Coat.

The kit contains the basics for nail art too including a set of sticks for use as dotting tools, a good nail brush, nail file and glue. It also comes with nail stickers in two designs which are looking cool but I tried them and they are not my favorite. But about this in another post.

Overall the kit is a lot of fun and full of goodies that offers a variety of different looks and finishes! This kit can be purchased in Romania in the Sephora stores.

Did you know about this brand and nail art kit?

T.P.A. Group Challenge: Color Blocking

This is my second challenge with The Polish Addict group and the theme is Color Blocking. Last year I made a manicure with this topic so this time I created an another design, and I hope you will like it.

Last years design posted on Instagram
For my new manicure I used three polishes, for the base the foil effect Nails Inc. Soho Silverwhich is a smooth metallic silver toned polish with a high shine finish and I painted it freehand with the Barry M. Bright Pink and the American Apparel The Valleywhich is a beautiful opaque nail color. I finished it with black lines to separate this above mentioned colors.

I am very sorry about the light conditions in my pictures. I made them at a bulbs light and I hate it because the colors are not so beautiful like in natural light conditions.

Go and check the other girls creations too!

Happy Dots

Today I will show you my fun looking nails with dots. I was inspired by the bottle of the polish I used, which is a duo bottle from H&M called Lavander Frost

Of course I couldn't resist and tried again my new stamping plates and added a pattern with flowers on two of my nails.

I hate to make pictures without proper light conditions, sorry for the blurred images.
How do you like my design?

Valentines Day nails

I have to mention first that I am not a Valentines Day fan and this manicure stayed exactly about 10 minutes on my nails. I am very curious about your opinion about this design!

I used two polishes one from AVON, Grape Goddess which is a golden glittered red polish that has a great shine and I thought to combine it with the Sinful Colors Euro Trash (hate this name), a  light iridescent gold with fine glitter polish. This color reminds me of sparkly champage and I think it is a very elegant one! I added it in three coats, so if you don't like sheer this is not a good formula for you!

I think I over decorated it a little bit, I used some heart and star glitter particles form Barry M and I added the nail chain.

What do you think, it looks like a Valentines Day  design or more a
Christmas design because of the over decoration!?
